This backing instrumental of this track was recorded directly AFTER "Motherlode's" instrumental, using the exact same process (plugging my keyboard directly into the reel-to-reel recorder's mic-jack and turning the meter up to 8). Thus the distortion on the instrumental.
The VOCALS, on the other hand, are not my best (not even in "drunk-slur" mode), and they even mixed sloppy. The lyrics were a pitiful attempt at a ballad. All of these factors caused "The Big, Red Globe Of The Sun" to bring down the original sessions to the point of me just "vaulting" the whole project.
But, now, 35+Years later, who cares---just get it out there. Besides, there's even worse-sounding shit that ACTUALLY makes the radio, of which this track definitely won't.
Consider it "filler".
lyrics
"THE BIG, RED GLOBE OF THE SUN"--
How long must I wait until The Sun fades away
On a very beautiful August Day
I'm here with you
Out on the Ocean Blue
Where we'll see the Big Moon rise
Oh, Darling, close your eyes
And let The Big, Red Globe Of The Sun fade away
If I was a rich man, I'd buy this world for you
Or, if I was a rich man, I'd sell it and give the fortune to you
How long must we wait, my dear
Until night falls down the sky
Ohh, wipe the tears away, My Darling
Please now, don't you cry
Just let The Big, Red Globe Of The Sun fade away (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Hold me close, My Dear
Let me wipe away your tears
Don't you feel the vibrations
On this beautiful day
It's just you and I
We can spread our wings and fly
To a time very far away
Let's turn around, look at the horizon
Watch The Sun as it's sinking
The Big, Red Globe Of The Sun will fade away (yeah, yeah, yeah)
