ABOUT "Frida, Don't You Cry"--

The NEW Cosmic Funk Orchestra ERA began in August '84, with a NEW Keyboard, Stereo Sound, and THIS Single.
(Caption from the original May 2007 SOUNDCLICK upload.)

"Frida, Don't You Cry" is a Sci-Fi story about an Alien Princess who was accidentally LEFT BEHIND after her Diplomatic Party returned home. So here she is, Princess Frida, who's probably the most gorgeous thing in human(-oid) female skin, frightened, alone, homesick and sad.

She wants to go home, but the folks here on Earth are more than happy to make poor Frida feel welcome--even introducing her to Dance Clubs.

There are TWO Vocal versions of this (a 'more perfect vocal version' was re-recorded in '89), but the 1984 original has it's own unique (albeit, slightly out-of-tune) charm.

AND NOW, about "The Click (The Invasion Force)"--

This is the original B-Side to the 'Frida, Don't You Cry' cassette-single, and the OPENING Track on "The Secrets Of The Cosmos" album (from which "Frida, Don't You Cry" is Track No. 2).

THIS MONO VERSION OF THE FULL TRACK IS ALL THAT REMAINS.

Well, maybe not.

There IS a Stereo Master cassette, but since "The Click" was the FIRST Track on that session tape, and said tape SNAPPED at the opening in OCTOBER 1984, only to be 'repaired' with editing tape, exactly 4 1/2 seconds of the later part of the song was dropped out.

4 1/2 seconds is a LOT when dealing with an instrumental--almost ONE WHOLE BAR.

Luckily, I've already made 2 mono album-cassette 'transfer masters' (and it's TAPE No. 1--the 'best' copy--from which THIS full version comes from). Unlike the REST of the album, cleaning up this mono track to give it a Hi-Fi-type sound has been a priority for over 20 years.

So far, thanks to DIGITAL AUDIO PROGRAMS, this is the BEST I can come up with. I turned the track into a "Dual-Mono" Track, and then made both tracks "Left (Mono)" and "Right (Mono)". When I sent that through the remastering process earlier in 2019, instead of a "Double Mono", the result was something like "Faux Stereo" (kinda like how AM Radio sounded after 1972).

So, technically speaking, it's passable, yet actually shows the TRUE AGE of the whole album project.
(So, how's THAT for 'authenticity', ya'll!)

Now, as for the track itself:

It's a simple electro-funk groove which was also meant to be a vocal song (the 'lyrics' to which I purposely discarded, because THEY SUCKED!). So, I just left the instrumental as is, mainly because it has a 'progressive' feel to it (especially the second half).

On the original album cassette, this opening song RAN RIGHT INTO "Frida, Don't You Cry", which in turn, RAN RIGHT INTO "Rocketship", making the first 3 cuts on the original "The Secrets Of The Cosmos" cassette-album a nonstop medley.

(Which, kinda worked in regards to the album's narrative.)
