about

Primarily a Double-Album's worth of raw-sounding tracks done in 1982 and 1983 (after "FUNKENDECTOMY" and "THE TOKYO CONNECTION" recordings). And, out of all the earliest recordings (1982-1984), these are the rare surviving Stereo masters--tape rumble and hiss included.

These raw recordings were supposed to be divided into 3 separate cassette-albums (titled, respectively, "COLOURED LIGHTNING", "STRANGE CHAMBERS", and "PSYCHEDELIC SPACE-WARPING"). I even drew up some hand-drawn cassette artwork for them. Instead, compiling the bulk of the tracks into a package equivalent to a Double-Album was a better idea. Due to the experimental nature of some of the tracks, ANY "Album Side" could've wound up over the 30 Minute Mark--which wouldn't have worked in most Cassette-Album situations.

And before you even ask--YES, I compiled it on a Double CD (2 Discs), because the whole thang is almost 1 Hour and 45 Minutes!! (Some of the tracks on this issue came from that CD transfer, and the rest from their original cassette masters.)

DON'T EXPECT ANY "HITS" off of this set. It's as close to a modern psychedelic/prog-jazz experiment as you can get (from a 20 year old recording in his bedroom and basement, on Radio Shack equipment and a Pawn-Shop Bass and Casio Keyboards, at that time.). There--you have it.

OH--the Album Title: A combination of the 2 "all-synth Sci-Fi type" tracks, "Scarlet Rain" and "Galaxia Minor". These 2, along with "Kabuki", officially changed my sound from a Bass Guitar dominated one to an all-synth "New Wave" thang, for the next 20-something years.

In other words--while "THE TOKYO CONNECTION" was the "oddball" in my early sound (1982-1983), after the FOLLOWING Cassette-Album, "ELECTRIC MAN", all Bass Guitar would be replaced by Keyboard/Synthesizer Bass.......at least, until 2010. Yea...kinda like that.
